The College Club of Boston to Host TV-Style Makeover Showhouse
“Trading Spaces”, “While You Were Out,” “Design on a Dime” even “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”……..today, some of television’s most-watched shows feature dramatic home makeovers. The College Club of Boston, has announced plans for a unique “makeover” showhouse in its gracious Victorian brownstone in Boston’s Back Bay.
Local designers will decorate each of the clubhouse’s 11 guestrooms, using the club’s own antiques and art and adhering to strict makeover time limits (two weeks only). In keeping with the Club’s educational focus, each room will be dedicated to a prominent college, with elements informed by that institution’s school colors, mascots and unique identity.
Unlike traditional show houses, the bedrooms will be unveiled individually with a cocktail reception jointly honoring the designer and the women’s college represented.
The first project, by Boston designer Lisey Good, is dedicated to Connecticut College and was unveiled at a very successful cocktail party on April 22, 2005.
